Spiritual Growth as Remedy to Anxiety

There are millions of people in the United States (many more in the world) who have serious and long-lasting anxiety problems. Many of those people have been looking for a way to solve their problem, and many have failed. In my opinion, this is because they have been looking for a solution in all the wrong places. Too many people look for a remedy for anxiety outside themselves, when the best possible remedy can only be found by searching deep inside and striving towards spiritual growth. This may sound like esoteric babble, but please finish reading this article until you draw your conclusions.

You see, there is not a single cause to anxiety; it’s an unfortunate confluence of factors, encompassing different aspects of your life. You have developed anxiety disorder from enduring a lifetime of stress, frustrations and loneliness. You have grown increasingly anxious because you didn’t quite feel you were properly understood or appreciated. In more than a way, you have sourced your own anxiety all through your growth process, until it became so strong that it’s now seemingly out of your control… as though it’s something that just came from the outside to threaten your integrity.

But that is not the case; even when anxiety surfaces as a response to outside forces (such as your education, your schooling and your relationships), it’s ultimately your response to life’s events that make you feel anxious. You may have never realized so, but you have always had a say concerning how you react to the people and events in your life. And once you realize this, you can start changing the way you deal with everything; once you start making the right choices and readjusting your world views, it’s only a matter of time until your anxiety fades… and that, my friend, is what I mean with the term spiritual growth.

Spiritual growth isn’t some esoteric babble which only gullible people fall for; it’s a process that anyone can use to learn their place in life, and become a better person. It doesn’t involve anything fancy or complicated; it’s all about looking deep into yourself and striving to understand why you are the way you are. It’s about learning how you have reached your current perspective, and being able to change that perspective if you feel it’s not suitable.

You won’t be able to change who you are in days, or even weeks or months: this is a mission meant for a lifetime. And the sooner you begin, the better off you’ll be in the long run. Right now, anxiety may seem like a challenge you can’t possibly overcome, but that is just your current perspective; change your perspective, and your outlook of life will readjust quite quickly.
