What Should People With Panic Attacks Do?

It is common to feel nervous or uneasy at one point or another during the day or in one’s life. Panic attacks are common manifestations of these uneasiness, fear or nervousness. It is a reflex reaction that balances our emotions, telling us to either “fight or flight”. When panic attacks becomes uncontrollable and debilitating it is considered to be a disorder and should already be treated by a physician or a mental health expert.

Panic attacks affect everyone regardless of status or disposition in life, from the ordinary working employee, the student, or famous celebrities. Famous people with anxiety disorders include state leaders, actors, poets, writers and even scientists. People with panic attacks often become depressed and withdrawn for fear of being stigmatized or humiliated when they have panic attack episodes in public.

The list of famous people with panic attacks is quite remarkable: US President Abraham Lincoln, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Princess Diana of England. Others who openly admitted to their anxiety problems are actors Burt Reynolds, John Candy, Winona Ryder and Nicole Kidman. It has never been questionable that fame always comes with the pressures of living up to the public expectations so anxiety is unavoidable with their line of work. Some of these famous people with panic attacks have been very vocal about their situation, while others have chosen to hide their ailments. But the point actually is that panic attacks happen to everyone whether you are famous or not, or whatever work you have. It affects everybody. And everyone has a choice on how they will deal with the ailment. Prescription drugs, which is a common refuge for most people, celebrities or ordinary individuals alike, prove to be fatal to some when the drugs are uncontrolled. To others, choosing a better alternative like committing to a recovery program has given them a lifetime cure and made them lead, a normal stress free life.
